Project Overview
Logo & preliminary branding for Tess Liebersohn, MEd, LPC Founder & Director. She opened her own therapy practice called Here & Wow Therapy, which uses Gestalt therapy for a holistic impact on clients’ lives.

Starting Point // Round One
Gestalt therapy is defined as “an approach to psychotherapy that helps clients focus on the present to understand what is actually happening in their lives at this moment, and how it makes them feel in the moment, rather than what they may assume to be happening based on past experience.”
Tess’ practice looks at both the pieces and the whole in order to be mindful and present. In our initial discussion we looked at building blocks, a mosaic feel, Mondrian and Kandinksy inspired palettes and shapes, emphasis on time, and text-only content. With that starting point, I created a variety of sketches and rough iterations for her to respond to so we could narrow down the direction that was most inspiring.
Next Steps // Round Two
After further discussion, we opted for a more hand drawn look and experimenting with a sun or hummingbird illustration to represent Gestalt therapy as a concept – the sun representing a revelation of sorts and the hummingbird inspiring pause and then intense action.
As we moved to the final iterations, we took a step back from color to focus on the forms and lettering, bringing in a sans serif typeface to represent stability while the hand drawn lettering emphasized therapy as a personal, growth experience. For the illustration aspect, the hummingbird resonated more so I created options based on that theme.

Adrienne was a great partner in untangling the web of my brand and logo design. From the beginning, she was interested in me and my business, which made the whole process easier. I wasn't sure how my ideas would go from my head to the screen, but she figured it out. She was responsive to my ideas and was unafraid to change course when I came up with new ones. Highly recommend!
